The Mister Freedom® TORPEDO Jacket draws inspiration from two distinct sources: WWII German Kriegsmarine reefer-style leather jackets and an original American civilian sports jacket dating from the late 1930s and early 1940s. Rather than reproducing either garment outright, the TORPEDO blends elements from both into an original Mister Freedom® design.
The tailored five-button front, notched lapel, action back, and half-belt silhouette reflect the clean, athletic styling found in American sportswear before and during the Second World War, while subtle military influences contribute to the jacket's understated presence.
Constructed in California from premium vegetable-tanned black tea-core cowhide, the leather has been selected to age gracefully. As the jacket is worn, the black surface gradually reveals the natural brown foundation beneath, creating a unique patina that reflects years of use and making every jacket one of a kind.
Finished with New Old Stock cotton linings, corozo buttons with bone backing, and traditional American craftsmanship throughout, the TORPEDO is designed as a lifetime garment that will continue to improve with age.
